Women’s Health Clinic
Dr Karen Vaughan and Midwife Teagan Atkins have a special interest in health issues affecting women, from adolescence to menopause and beyond. They work together every Wednesday at Jordan River Health to provide a safe and comfortable space for women of all ages to address their health care needs.
Teagan Atkins
Teagan (left) is a Registered Nurse/Midwife with 14 years’ experience in comprehensive patient care in both inpatient and outpatient departments. She has a strong clinical skill set with a focus on Women’s Health care and Primary Health. She has worked in remote communities as a sole practitioner where she provided emergency/primary and generalist care to the community.
Teagan is currently studying a Masters of Nurse Practitioner and plans to expand her skill set in the next two years. She works regularly between Urgent Care Clinic (Hobart and Bridgewater), Royal Hobart Hospital (Maternity/Women’s services)and Jordan River Health Women’s Clinic.
Some services Teagan provides include – early pregnancy care, contraception advice/planning, breastfeeding support, insertion of contraceptive implants, cervical screening, STI screening, post-natal checks and baby checks.

Dr Karen graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1998 and has many years of experience in General Practice. Her special interests are: Family Medicine, Children’s Health, Implanon insertion and removal, STI checks, Contraceptive advice.
