Breast Cancer Early Detection: What You Need to Know
Early detection saves lives. Being proactive with your breast health can make all the difference. Here are some important tips:
✅ Perform regular self-exams – at least monthly. This helps you get to know what’s normal for your body so you can spot any changes early. ✅ Understand your risk factors – including age, lifestyle, and reproductive history. ✅ Know your family history – and let your GP know if there’s any history of breast cancer in your family. ✅ Schedule regular mammograms – recommended from age 40 and up, or earlier if you're high risk. ✅ Watch for symptoms – see the poster below for potential signs to be aware of.
📅 If you notice anything unusual or have concerns, don’t wait — book an appointment with your GP.

Launched by the ILDS and ISD, this day raises awareness of skin diseases and the need for better access to care. Over 3,000 skin conditions affect 1.8+ billion people, yet 3 billion still lack proper dermatological support.
🧬 Your skin is your first line of defense — protecting you daily. Starting in 2024, World Skin Health Day is officially marked on July 8.
This NAIDOC Week, we proudly stand with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to celebrate their rich cultures, histories, and ongoing contributions to our communities.
We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging — and honour the stories and traditions that have shaped this land for over 65,000 years.
Previous National NAIDOC Award Winners come from many different communities across Australia and represent a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Yet, they all share a place in NAIDOC history through their remarkable achievements.
